Technician using thermal imaging camera to inspect industrial pipe joints, showing temperature data on display

Accurate inspection data that reveals what's hidden

ABS Drones and Thermal Imaging combines high-resolution drone technology with thermal imaging to identify structural issues, water ingress, and anomalies across Australia. We deliver the data you need for solar farms, agriculture, industrial infrastructure, and emergency response.

Our story

Advanced inspection technology, built for Australian infrastructure

ABS Drones and Thermal Imaging started with a clear mission: deliver accurate, actionable data that reveals what the naked eye can't see. Using high-resolution drones and handheld thermal cameras, we identify structural issues, water ingress, and thermal anomalies across solar farms, agriculture, industrial infrastructure, and emergency response situations. Based in Bundaberg and operating Australia-wide, we combine precision technology with local expertise to solve real problems for our clients.

Qualifications

Qualifications Matter

THERMAL IMAGING: QUALIFICATION MATTERS Not all thermal inspections are equal — and poor thermography can cost you thousands. Thermal cameras are becoming more common, but owning a thermal camera or flying a thermal drone does not make someone a qualified thermographer. At Australian Biosecurity Services – Drones & Thermal Imaging, we are Level 2 qualified thermographers and accredited with AUSTPA, AINDT and AAUS. That matters. Accurate thermal imaging requires far more than taking coloured images. A qualified thermographer understands the science behind what the camera is seeing — including emissivity, reflected temperature, environmental conditions, solar loading, level and span settings, thermal patterns and equipment operating conditions. Without that knowledge, thermal images can be misread, resulting in false positives, incorrect diagnoses, unnecessary repairs, downtime and avoidable expense. Unfortunately, we regularly see thermal imaging used as a sales tool — where operators identify “hot spots” or “faults” based on poor-quality data, then recommend costly follow-up works that were never needed. This applies to both handheld inspections and aerial thermal drone inspections. Before engaging anyone for thermal imaging, ask: ✔ Are you a qualified thermographer? ✔ What thermography certifications do you hold? ✔ Do you understand emissivity and reflected temperature? ✔ How do you account for solar loading and inspection conditions? ✔ Can you explain level/span settings and how they affect results? ✔ Do you provide findings based on recognised thermography standards? If these questions can’t be answered clearly and confidently, the inspection may be based on flawed interpretation — and that can lead to expensive decisions based on incorrect data. WHY ABS? Level 2 Qualified Thermographers AUSTPA, AINDT & AAUS Accredited Handheld & Aerial Thermal Inspections Compliance-focused, independent reporting Accurate diagnostics — no upselling, no guesswork When thermal imaging matters, qualification matters. Get accurate data. Make informed decisions. Avoid costly mistakes.
